New From Of Brothels Pop Up In Accra
It appears the
city authorities after heavily clamping down on the operations of the popular ‘’Soja
Bar brothel not far away from the former office of the Ghana Journalists
Association (GJA) in the Kokomele area of the Ayawaso Central Constituency in
the Greater Accra Region, they have gone to sleep as new mode of such brothels
sprung up in the metropolis.
Checkoutghana.com
can report of some new forms of brothels in the city particularly in areas like
Dansoman, Accra New Town, Kokomele, Osu, Abeka-lapaz, Mallam, Gbawe, Madina,
Mc-carthy Hill, Tantra Hill, Achimota, Lateibiokoshie and its environs.
The rest are
the plush East Legon, Labone, Cantonments, Nyaniba parts of Tema and La- Apapa
area among others.
Property owners
have been operating these brothels under the cover of “Movie Houses” and
charging twenty Cedis and fifty Cedis for two hours use of these properties.
In certain
areas around the plush Cantonments it is even advertised with Very Very
Important Person (VVIP) services, where the operators provide the call girls
who come and have sexual intercourse with the men that patronize their
facilities under the cover of coming to watch movies in the secluded area.
It is the
latest brothel industry in town on the blind side of the city authorities checkoutghana.com
can report.
The mode of
operations is to create beautiful sign posts in front of the said properties
telling possible customers that they can come and watch movies in a private
area for a fee on hourly basis.
Charges on use
of such private rooms ranges from twenty Cedis to as high as one hundred Cedis
and more depending on the facilities available in the room.
Checkoutghana.com
sources say rooms fixed air conditioners, bath and toilet facilities charge as
high as fifty or more for a two-hour service whilst those without such
facilities charge as low thirty Cedis for the same hours.
The movie house
business is fast becoming the booming enterprise in the sex trade industry in
the Accra metropolis checkoutghana.com can report.
Interestingly,
buildings that used are for such activities are usually in secluded areas of
town to offer some form privacy to the couples patronizing these services.
It however, not
clear whether their operations have been sanctioned by the Ghana Tourist
Authority (GTA), the hospitality and tourism governing body in the country.
Some patrons
told checkoutghana.com that the activities of the so-called ‘’Movie Houses’’
are booming because of the way licensed hotel operators have pegged the prices
in Dollars.
Even though the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has issued a stern
warning against Dollarization of Ghana’s economy; some big hotels in Accra have
blatantly disregarded the central bank’s directives on pegging their prices in
Dollars.
The BoG has directed all institutions including
those in the hospitality industry to desist from pricing or accepting foreign
currencies for their products.
