Adaklu: Roads Minister, Volta Regional Minister Visits Community Affected By Mudslide
The Member of Parliament for Adaklu Constituency and Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, together with the Volta Regional Minister and the District Chief Executive (DCE), have arrived in the community to assess the situation of mudslide on the ground at firsthand.
At least five houses and 9 vehicles were buried after a mudslide carrying heavy rocks from the 600-metre Adaklu Mountain struck Adaklu-Helekpe in the Volta Region on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2026.
The incident occurred shortly after 6 PM during a heavy downpour, throwing the community into fear and anxiety
The visit forms part of efforts by government officials to gather direct information on the concerns affecting residents and evaluate possible interventions.
The delegation is expected to engage community members and local authorities during the visit as part of broader efforts to address the challenges confronting the area.
Residents welcomed the officials and expressed optimism that the engagement would lead to swift action and development interventions.
