Mr. Edmund Kombat Calls For Stronger Fuel Supply Security At GHIPcon 2026
The Managing Director (MD) of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Mr. Edmund Kombat, has joined industry leaders to discuss strategies aimed at strengthening Ghana's fuel supply security and reducing the country's dependence on limited sources of petroleum products.
Mr. Kombat participated in a panel discussion on "Strategic Fuel Supply Security: Less Dependence, More Options" during the 2026 Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GHIPcon), organised by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), and the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).
The session also featured the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Mr. Godwin Tameklo, alongside representatives of CBOD and COMAC.
The panel examined practical measures to enhance Ghana's fuel supply resilience, with discussions focusing on diversifying fuel supply sources, strengthening strategic partnerships across the petroleum value chain, expanding local refining capacity, and implementing innovative policy interventions to safeguard the country's energy security.
Participants agreed that reducing reliance on a narrow range of fuel suppliers and increasing investment in domestic refining infrastructure would help improve supply stability and protect the country against global market disruptions.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of collaboration among government agencies, regulators, and industry players in building a more resilient and sustainable downstream petroleum sector.
