RMG Distances Itself From Fourth Estate Report On Apinto Concession
RMG Company Limited has dissociated itself from a publication by The Fourth Estate concerning its former operations at the Apinto concession, stating that the company neither authorised nor participated in the report.
In a statement, the management of RMG said the allegations, views, assertions, and conclusions contained in the publication were solely those of the publisher and should not be interpreted as representing the company’s position.
The company rejected claims and political assertions contained in the report, including suggestions that the Government of Ghana or its officials supported or facilitated the takeover of RMG’s mining operations.
“RMG Company Limited is not associated with such claims and does not wish to be drawn into political discourse or partisan controversy,” the statement said.
The mining firm reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a professional and constructive relationship with the Government of Ghana and relevant state institutions, noting that collaboration, mutual respect, and compliance with sector regulations are essential for the growth of the mining industry.
RMG also expressed appreciation to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the leadership and technical staff of the Minerals Commission for their guidance and continued engagement, which it said had contributed to efforts to restructure its operations and restore its mining activities.
The company indicated that it remains committed to its investment in Ghana and is working towards the full resumption of its operations, with the aim of creating sustainable employment opportunities for more than 5,000 young Ghanaians.
It assured stakeholders that its operations would be conducted in accordance with applicable laws, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements.
RMG further urged the public, media, and stakeholders not to attribute any political position or commentary arising from The Fourth Estate publication to the company.
The company reiterated its commitment to working with the Government of Ghana, regulators, traditional authorities, host communities, business partners, and other stakeholders to contribute to economic growth and national development.
