Bawumia Receives Dagbon Delegation Over Passing Of Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II
Former Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has received a delegation of Chiefs from the Dagbon Kingdom to formally informed him of the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, and the arrangements for the installation of his Regent.
The delegation conveyed the official notice of the passing of the revered traditional leader and briefed Dr Bawumia on the date scheduled for the installation of a Regent to oversee the affairs of the Dagbon Kingdom during the transition period.
In a statement following the meeting, Dr Bawumia paid tribute to the late Ya-Na, describing him as a leader who served Dagbon and Ghana with dignity, wisdom and dedication.
“ Ndan Ya-Na served Dagbon and Ghana with dignity and wisdom. May Allah grant him Jannah and comfort the Royal Family, Chiefs and people of Dagbon,” he said.
The former Vice President extended his condolences to the Dagbon Traditional Council, the Royal Family and the people of Dagbon, acknowledging the significant role the late Ya-Na played in promoting unity, peace and development within the Kingdom.
The passing of Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II marks the end of a notable reign in Dagbon’s history, with traditional authorities now preparing for the next phase of leadership under the guidance of the Regent.
