High Court Halts Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's Embattled Funeral

The High Court in Accra has issued a 10-day interim injunction halting the planned funeral and burial of the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The order, granted on Wednesday, temporarily restrains the funeral activities scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2026, pending the determination of a case before the court.

The injunction bars the Kristo Asafo Mission and all parties involved in the funeral arrangements from proceeding with the burial and related ceremonies until the court order expires or further directions are issued.

The development comes amid an ongoing dispute over the funeral arrangements between members of the late Apostle's family.

Although the court did not disclose the specific grounds upon which the application was made, the ruling effectively suspends preparations for the two-day funeral, which was expected to attract thousands of mourners from across Ghana and beyond.

Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, died earlier this year and was due to be accorded a state-recognised funeral before the court's intervention.
