Ayawaso East MP Unveils Coding Training Centre Under One Million Coders Programme

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Baba Jamal, has launched a dedicated training centre at the Kanda Library to support beneficiaries of the government’s One Million Coders Programme.

The facility was established with support from Madam Kathy, a Canadian citizen whose generosity contributed to the establishment of the Kanda Library.

The opening ceremony also provided an opportunity for the MP to meet Madam Kathy and acknowledge her contribution towards creating a learning environment that supports digital skills development among young people.

Mr. Baba Jamal said the initiative aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to empowering Ghanaian youth through technology and equipping them with skills relevant to the demands of the modern job market.

He noted that the training centre will provide beneficiaries with practical digital skills aimed at improving employability, encouraging entrepreneurship and enabling young people to participate actively in Ghana’s growing digital economy.

The MP urged beneficiaries of the programme to take advantage of the opportunity by dedicating themselves to learning and developing skills that can create pathways to better career prospects.

He expressed optimism that the facility would contribute to building a digitally skilled workforce and support efforts to expand opportunities for young people in the constituency and beyond.
