GRA Opens New Customs Patrol Base At Antado To Strengthen Border Security
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched a newly constructed Customs Patrol Base at Antado in Takoradi as part of efforts to strengthen border security and enhance customs enforcement operations.
The facility was officially opened by the Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, together with the Commissioner of Customs, Aaron Kanor.
The new patrol base is expected to improve the operational capacity of Customs officers by providing a strategic base for surveillance, anti-smuggling operations and the monitoring of goods moving through Ghana's borders.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the GRA leadership reaffirmed the Authority's commitment to equipping the Customs Division with the infrastructure and logistics needed to effectively combat smuggling, safeguard state revenue and facilitate legitimate trade.
The opening of the Antado Customs Patrol Base forms part of the GRA's broader strategy to modernise customs operations, improve border management and enhance national security through efficient revenue administration.
The Authority said the investment underscores its resolve to strengthen enforcement mechanisms while supporting trade facilitation and protecting the country's economic interests.
