Corporate Ghana, International Community Support June 29 Flood Victims
Corporate Ghana and international partners have stepped up relief efforts for victims of the devastating June 29 flood disaster that affected several communities in Accra and surrounding areas.
The donations, which included cash, food, medical supplies, mattresses, clothing and other essential items, were presented to the Presidency to support affected families and ongoing recovery efforts.
Senior government officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, Legal Advisor to the President Marietta Brew and Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, received the donations on behalf of the state.
Among the cash donations were GHS200,000 from SoftCare FM Manufacturing Company Limited and GHS50,000 from the Ghana Institute of Surveyors.
The Ghana Association of Chinese Societies and Companies also made a major contribution comprising thousands of bags of rice, water and gari, as well as medical supplies, including 2,000 malaria test kits and anti-malaria medication.
The donation further included 3,000 sleeping mats, appliances, water tanks and school bags.
MTN Ghana and the Multimedia Group, through their relief campaign, donated 1,400 mattresses, 1,192 blankets and nearly 1,000 relief boxes containing food, mosquito nets and hygiene products.
Sentuo Group Limited donated 4,000 25-kilogramme bags of rice, 600 bags of sugar and 387 boxes of granular maize.
Ecobank Ghana contributed essential medicines, 1,000 bags of drinking water, 195 mattresses, blankets and bales of clothing to support affected residents.
Other companies also joined the relief effort.
B5 Plus Limited donated food items, Cerelac baby food, 100 pairs of Wellington boots, raincoats, mosquito nets and blankets, while SoftCare FM Manufacturing Company provided sanitary pads, diapers, KleenSoft soap and washing powder.
The Tobinco Group donated 5,000 gallons of Omal liquid soap, 100 boxes of antiseptic and 400 gallons of bleach.
Eezzy Group contributed more than 1,000 bags of rice, canned beef, spaghetti and baking supplies, while Kam Trading & Farms Limited donated 445 25-kilogramme bags of rice.
The government expressed its appreciation to corporate organisations and international partners for their solidarity and support for communities affected by the floods.
It said the contributions would complement ongoing government efforts to provide relief to victims and support the recovery and rebuilding process following the disaster.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to assist affected families and rebuild communities impacted by the flood.
