Hearts Of Oak Withdraws From 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament
Accra Hearts of Oak has withdrawn from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament, citing scheduling conflicts and concerns over their preparations for the upcoming league season.
In a statement issued by the club’s management, Hearts said the tournament dates clash with previously scheduled programmes and commitments of the club.
The club also indicated that the proximity of the competition to the commencement of the new league season influenced its decision, noting that participation at this time could disrupt its preparations.
According to Hearts of Oak, management had earlier engaged GHALCA and requested a change in the tournament dates to allow the club to participate.
However, the club said the discussions did not result in a change to the schedule, leaving management with the decision to withdraw from the competition.
“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” the statement said.
Hearts of Oak expressed its best wishes to GHALCA and the other participating clubs for a successful tournament.
The club further stressed that its decision would not affect its relationship with GHALCA or the broader Ghanaian football community.
“Hearts of Oak remains committed to maintaining its cordial relationship and continued collaboration with GHALCA and the wider Ghana football community,” the statement added.
The decision was endorsed by members of the club’s management and board, including Executive Chairman Togbe Afede XIV, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Madam Ivy Heward-Mills, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Mr Akwasi Agyeman, Ing. Dr Ken Ashigbey, Mr Samuel Wilfred Inkoom, Hon. Vincent Sowah Odotei, Alhaji Huseini Sulemana and Mr Julius Ben Emunah.
