Ghana, Burkina Faso Signs Defence Cooperation Agreement To Secure Cross-border Trade
Ghana and Burkina Faso have signed a Defence Cooperation Agreement aimed at strengthening security along vital cross-border trade corridors and protecting economic activities between the two countries.
The agreement is also expected to deepen defence and security cooperation between Ghana and Burkina Faso as both countries work to address security challenges affecting cross-border movement and trade.
The agreement was signed by Ghana’s acting Defence Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and Burkina Faso’s Defence Minister, Major General Célestin Simporé.
The pact is expected to enhance collaboration between the two countries’ security and defence institutions, particularly in safeguarding key routes used for the movement of goods and people.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and create a safer environment for trade and economic activity along the Ghana-Burkina Faso corridor.
The two countries are expected to deepen coordination under the agreement to improve security and support the uninterrupted flow of legitimate cross-border commerce.
