GRA Board, Management Meets Otumfuo To Promote Tax Compliance

The Board and Management of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have paid a courtesy visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to discuss the importance of taxation in driving development in the Ashanti Region and across Ghana.

The engagement focused on how revenue generated from taxes can support the provision of essential infrastructure and public services, including roads, schools and hospitals, while also creating opportunities for employment.

The GRA delegation highlighted the importance of public education on taxation and voluntary compliance in improving domestic revenue mobilisation.

The Authority also underscored the potential role of traditional leaders, particularly Otumfuo, in encouraging citizens and businesses to understand their tax obligations and comply with them.

The GRA expressed appreciation for the Asantehene’s support for tax education and voluntary compliance, describing it as crucial to strengthening revenue mobilisation and advancing national development.

The engagement forms part of efforts to deepen collaboration between the revenue authority and traditional institutions in promoting a stronger culture of tax compliance.

The Commisssioner of GRA, Anthony Kwesi Sarpong in a remark said sustained cooperation among government institutions, traditional authorities and the public is essential to mobilising the resources needed to build the Ghana envisaged by all.
