NHIA Permanently Releases 13 Staff To Ghana Medical Trust Fund
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has officially released 13 members of its staff to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), popularly known as Mahama Cares, following a year-long secondment during which they helped establish and operationalise the Fund.
The officers were part of the first group of professionals deployed to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund when it was launched.
Over the past year, they worked closely with the Fund’s leadership and other stakeholders to develop its systems and structures and support its day-to-day operations.
Their permanent transition to the GMTF marks a significant milestone for both institutions and reflects the confidence placed in their professional expertise and contribution to the Fund’s establishment.
Commenting on the release of the officers, the Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, commended them for their dedication and contribution and wished them well in their new roles.
Dr Bampoe said the officers responded to the call to help establish the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and took on the challenge of building a new institution from the ground up.
“Today, as they officially join the Fund, we celebrate their courage, commitment and the impact they have made,” he said.
He acknowledged that the NHIA would miss their services but said the Authority was proud that they would continue contributing to an initiative aligned with efforts to improve access to healthcare in Ghana.
“The work of strengthening Ghana’s health system requires collaboration and shared purpose. Although they will now wear different badges, they remain part of a broader family working to improve the lives of Ghanaians,” Dr Bampoe said.
He expressed the NHIA’s appreciation to the 13 officers for their dedication and service and assured them of the Authority’s continued support as they assume their new responsibilities at the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
