Ato Forson Hands Over Defence Ministry To Kenneth Gilbert Adjei
Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has formally handed over the administration of the Ministry of Defence to Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, bringing his tenure as caretaker of the ministry to an end.
Dr Ato Forson was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to oversee the Defence Ministry following the death of the substantive minister, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.
He has since served as caretaker of the ministry while continuing to perform his substantive duties as Finance Minister.
The formal transition took place with both ministers signing the necessary handover documents to officially transfer responsibility for the ministry.
Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei will now assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the Defence Ministry and provide leadership on its operations, policies and strategic direction.
The handover marks the conclusion of Dr Ato Forson’s interim role at the ministry and allows him to concentrate fully on his responsibilities as Minister for Finance.
The transition also ushers in a new phase of leadership at the Defence Ministry under Mr Adjei, who is expected to work with the ministry’s leadership and security agencies to advance the government’s defence and national security agenda.
