Asoukor Bridge Project Remains Ongoing Despite Rainfall Disruptions-Kwakye Ofosu
Work on the Asoukor Bridge project in the Bono Region remains ongoing, with construction crews expected to resume full operations once weather and site conditions permit, Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has said .
According to the Minister, the project is being undertaken in fulfilment of a commitment by President John Dramani Mahama to address the longstanding challenges associated with the bridge and improve connectivity for residents in the area.
The Minister in a statement on Facebook gave the updates on the project, adding that workers have been actively engaged on site, but their activities were disrupted by high water levels resulting from heavy rainfall.
He stressed that the temporary interruption has affected work at the site, with construction expected to resume as soon as conditions become safe and favourable for workers and equipment.
Excerpts from a report submitted to the Minister of Roads and Highways indicate that significant work has already been undertaken on the project.
The report, together with photographs from the site, provides evidence of progress made so far and counters concerns that work on the bridge has been abandoned.
The continued work forms part of broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and address critical bridges that affect transportation and economic activity in communities.
Authorities are expected to monitor conditions at the site and facilitate the return of construction crews once water levels recede sufficiently.
The Asoukor Bridge project therefore remains a work in progress, with the temporary disruption attributed to adverse weather conditions rather than an abandonment of the project.
