Ghana, UK Deepens Customs Cooperation Under Growth Partnership
Ghana and the United Kingdom(UK) have taken another step towards strengthening their economic partnership with a new agreement between His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The agreement forms part of efforts to advance the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership through deeper cooperation in customs administration, technical assistance and knowledge sharing.
The partnership to the Commissioner-General of GRA, Anthony Kwesi Sarpong is expected to strengthen Ghana’s revenue administration and improve the efficiency of customs processes, creating a more supportive environment for trade and investment.
A key area of cooperation will be support for the GRA’s Post Clearance Audit function, which is intended to strengthen customs compliance and improve the effectiveness of revenue collection after goods have been cleared.
The UK officials said the agreement would contribute to building stronger institutions and systems that underpin sustainable economic growth.
The collaboration will also provide opportunities for technical cooperation and the sharing of expertise between HMRC and the GRA.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by Ghana and the UK to deepen economic ties and create conditions that support increased trade, investment and long-term economic development.
