Kessben Group CEO Dies At 68


Kumasi-based businessman and media entrepreneur, Stephen Kwabena Boateng, popularly known as Kwabena Kesse or Kessben, has died at the age of 68.

Kessben, the Chief Executive Officer of the Kessben Group of Companies, reportedly died after a short illness, according to reports confirmed by his employees on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Born on September 12, 1957, Kessben grew up at North Suntreso in Kumasi and built a diverse business empire spanning media, education, transportation, hospitality, financial services and other sectors.

His business interests included Kessben Travel and Tours, Kessben Driving School, Kessben Computer School, Kessben Shipping and Forwarding Limited., Fosua Hotel and Conference Centre, Kessben University College, Kessben Consult and Kessben Foundation.

He was also the founder and sole shareholder of Kessben FM Limited, the company behind Kessben FM, Kessben TV and Aseda TV, making him a prominent figure in Ghana's media industry, particularly in the Ashanti Region.

Kessben's entrepreneurial journey began with trading and other private business ventures before he expanded into a broad range of enterprises.

Over the years, he became one of Kumasi's notable businessmen and created employment opportunities through his various companies.

Beyond business, Kessben was recognised for his philanthropic activities and social interventions.

He also served as a member of Ghana's National Peace Council from 2004 to 2010.

His death marks the passing of a major figure in Ghana's private sector and media landscape, particularly in the Ashanti Region, where the Kessben brand has maintained a strong presence for decades.
