Shai-Osudoku MP Visits Market Women After Temporary Structures Destruction
The Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, Linda Ocloo, has visited market women whose temporary structures were destroyed and partially burnt by unknown persons in the area.
The MP, accompanied by the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), inspected the affected site to assess the extent of the damage and engage the affected traders.
Ms Ocloo expressed concern over the incident, describing the destruction as distressing and a major setback for the affected women whose businesses serve as their main source of livelihood.
She said the temporary structures represented the traders’ investments, sacrifices and efforts to provide for their families, and assured them of her support during the difficult period.
The MP encouraged the affected market women not to lose hope, assuring them that efforts would be made to identify those responsible for the incident.
She said she would work with the relevant security agencies to ensure that the incident was thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable was brought to book.
Ms Ocloo also disclosed that as preparations continued towards the establishment of the proposed 24-hour market, efforts would be made to restore the affected structures and provide the necessary assistance to enable the traders to resume their activities.
She further announced plans for 24-hour security arrangements to protect the lives, businesses and property of the market women once the new market initiative is operational.
The Shai Osudoku MP assured the affected traders that their livelihoods and safety remained a priority, urging them to remain hopeful as authorities worked towards rebuilding the affected facilities.
“Your livelihoods matter, your concerns matter and your safety remains a priority,” she told the market women, assuring them that efforts would continue to restore their businesses and livelihoods.
