Ghana Hosts Pan-African House To Promote African Unity And Cultural Exchange
Ghana is set to host the Pan-African House, a one-month cultural residency bringing together young Africans from across the continent and the diaspora as part of the third edition of the Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC).
The initiative is aimed at demonstrating the possibilities of African unity by creating a platform for participants from different countries to live together, exchange cultures and explore opportunities for intra-African tourism and trade.
Speaking in an interview the internationally acclaimed Ghana-based Casting Director, Mawuko Kuadzi said the Pan-African House was conceived to give practical expression to the long-standing dream of African unity.
He said the initiative would bring together participants from 12 countries for 30 days, with each participant serving as a cultural ambassador for his or her country.
“We are establishing the Pan-African House in Ghana and that is to show how Africans can live together,” Mr. Kuadzi said, adding that it was now the responsibility of the current generation to help translate the vision of African unity into reality.
He said the initiative would also provide Ghana with an opportunity to showcase its hospitality and reinforce its position as the “Black Star of Africa” and a gateway to the continent.
Among the countries confirmed to participate are the Republic of Congo, Botswana, South Africa, Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, representing the African diaspora, alongside other participating countries.
Mr. Kuadzi explained that the participants were being sponsored by their respective governments and would represent their countries throughout their stay in Ghana.
A distinctive feature of the Pan-African House is its country-themed accommodation, with each room representing a participating nation.
“For us they are no longer individuals. When you come to the Pan-African House, every room for these finalists is a country,” he said.
Willie Chembez to Represent Ghana
Ghanaian actor William Lamptey, popularly known as Willie Chembez, will represent Ghana in Season Three of the Africa Monologue Challenge.
Lamptey has pledged to give his best to the competition, describing his participation as both a professional opportunity and a national responsibility.
“Team Ghana, you should expect something great. I have been doing this for a long time and I know the people of Ghana know me and they know what I’m capable of doing,” he said.
The actor said representing Ghana through his craft was a responsibility he took seriously and expressed his determination to secure victory for the country.
“This competition is something that is on my heart. I really want to do this for my country because this is a great opportunity to be, not only as an actor, but a cultural ambassador for my country, Ghana,” he said.
Lamptey added that he was proud to have the opportunity to use his acting career to promote Ghanaian culture on a Pan-African platform.
He is among the 12 cultural ambassadors who will be housed at the Pan-African House for 30 days as part of the Africa Monologue Challenge.
The residency is expected to provide participants with opportunities for cultural exchange while promoting intra-African tourism, trade and collaboration.
The Pan-African House will run for the next 30 days in Ghana, with organisers hoping the initiative will deepen connections among Africans while showcasing the country’s cultural diversity and hospitality.
