GEA Explores USVI Employment Opportunities For Nurses, Teachers

The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) is exploring opportunities to connect qualified Ghanaian professionals, particularly nurses and teachers, to employment opportunities in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI).

The initiative followed an engagement between the GEA and a delegation from the USVI Economic Development Authority, led by Margaret Ansei, to discuss possible pathways for Ghanaian professionals to access jobs in the territory.

The discussions focused particularly on the healthcare sector, where the USVI is experiencing growing demand for skilled workers.

The engagement also explored how Ghana’s pool of highly trained nurses and teachers could be linked to credible employment opportunities through a structured and sustainable framework involving the Government of Ghana and the Government of the USVI.

According to the GEA, such an arrangement could help address identified skills gaps in the USVI while providing qualified Ghanaian professionals with opportunities to gain international experience, advance their careers and contribute their expertise to the USVI labour market.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Ghana Enterprises Agency to strengthen international partnerships and create new opportunities for Ghanaian talent beyond the country’s borders.

The Agency said it remains committed to strengthening Ghana’s Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) ecosystem while supporting efforts to tackle unemployment by creating pathways that connect Ghanaian professionals with opportunities in international labour markets.
