Energy Ministry Hold Talks With Finance Minister Over Sector Challenges


The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has led agencies under the Energy Ministry in an engagement with the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson to discuss the state of Ghana’s energy sector.

The meeting, led by the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, focused on challenges confronting the sector, with particular attention to the critical relationship between energy and public finances.

Dr Jinapor described the discussions as open, frank and constructive, saying they provided an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the structural and financial challenges affecting the energy sector.

According to the Energy Minister, government’s ongoing reforms are already making meaningful progress in addressing some of the longstanding structural challenges within the sector.

He said government remains committed to sustaining the reforms, improving the financial sustainability of the energy sector and strengthening coordination between the energy and finance sectors.

Dr Jinapor stressed that efforts to address the sector’s challenges are crucial to ensuring a reliable and resilient energy system capable of supporting Ghana’s economic growth.

The engagement brought together the relevant agencies under the Energy Ministry as part of government’s broader efforts to implement reforms and put the energy sector on a more sustainable financial footing.
