Gomoa Central MP Leads Delegation To President Over 270 MW Solar Project
The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng(A-plus), has led a delegation from AKA Energy Systems to meet with President John Dramani Mahama to announce preparations for the construction of a 270-megawatt (MW) solar energy project in the constituency.
The delegation, headed by the Chief Executive Officer of AKA Energy Systems, formally informed the President that preparations have commenced for the renewable energy project, which is expected to provide power to the Gomoa Special Economic Zone.
The Gomoa Special Economic Zone is being positioned as a major manufacturing, industrial and commercial hub, while the solar project will also supply power to the Gomoa Eco Park.
According to the delegation, the 270MW project will be developed in phases as part of efforts to provide reliable and sustainable energy to support industrial and commercial activities in the area.
The delegation assured President Mahama that work on Phase One of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
The project is expected to contribute to Ghana’s renewable energy agenda while supporting industrialisation, job creation and economic activity within the Gomoa area.
The announcement also highlights growing efforts to integrate renewable energy into Ghana’s industrial development strategy and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.
