Ghana To Launch Tomato Self-sufficiency Initiative In Anloga


The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in collaboration with Farmmate Africa, is set to launch the Ghana Tomato Self-Sufficiency Initiative as part of efforts to promote domestic tomato production.

The national launch is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Anlo Senior High School Park in Anloga in the Volta Region.

The event is expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be attended by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, who is listed as the guest minister for the launch.

The initiative is expected to bring renewed attention to efforts to strengthen Ghana’s capacity to produce tomatoes locally and reduce reliance on external sources.

The launch in Anloga will mark the formal commencement of the national initiative involving the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Farmmate Africa.
