Accra-Kumasi Expressway: Ashanti Region Ready For Commencement Of Works


The Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, following the successful completion of the clearance of the Right- of- Way for the Accra-Kumasi Expressway project.

The visit took place at the Regional Coordinating Council and formed part of engagements ahead of the official handing over of the project site to the Ministry of Roads and Highway.

The completion of the Right- of- Way clearance marks a significant milestone towards the commencement of the major road infrastructure project, which is expected to improve connectivity between Accra and Kumasi.

The project is also expected to reduce travel time, enhance road safety and boost economic activity along the Accra-Kumasi corridor.

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to be in the Ashanti Region on Monday for the official handing over of the project site, paving the way for the commencement of construction works.

The Ashanti Regional authorities have expressed readiness for the project, describing it as a strategic national infrastructure initiative that will contribute to Ghana’s transport and economic development.

The successful completion of the Right -of -Way clearance was facilitated by the relevant authorities, including the Ghana Armed Forces, as part of preparations for the project.
