Police To Fully Implement TRAFFITECH-GH From October 1
The Ghana Police Service will commence the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1, 2026.
The programme, being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), forms part of efforts by the Police Service to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.
The announcement was contained in a press release dated September 15, 2026, and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer at the Public Affairs Directorate.
Under TRAFFITECH-GH, cameras and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices will be used to detect traffic offences and support the enforcement of road traffic regulations.
The Police Service said detected offences will be reviewed before Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) are issued to vehicle owners or drivers through SMS.
The electronic notices will indicate the traffic offence detected as well as the prescribed fine applicable to the violation.
The Service has therefore urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to comply with road traffic regulations and support the implementation of the automated enforcement programme.
According to the Police, the initiative is intended to promote safer roads and contribute to efforts to reduce road traffic crashes and casualties.
