Mahama Ayariga Reviews Progress On 24-hour Model Markets Project
The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has met with Deans of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and consultants to review progress on the government’s 24-Hour Model Markets project.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra, focused on assessing progress on the project and discussing strategies for its effective implementation.
Key issues considered included developing a shared understanding of the project, identifying potential funding opportunities and coordinating implementation across the country.
Mr Ayariga called for close collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the project delivers functional and sustainable markets that respond to the needs of local communities.
He said effective implementation of the initiative would also help create more economic opportunities and support local development across the country.
