Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has been elected the party’s National Chairman at its National Delegates Conference.

Mr Boadu secured 2,888 votes to win the chairmanship position and will lead a new team of national executives tasked with overseeing the party’s organisational and political affairs.

In the General Secretary race, Justin Frimpong Kodua retained his position after polling 4,486 votes.

Daniel Titus Glover was elected National Organiser with 2,964 votes, while Alfred Kwajo Thompson emerged as National Treasurer after securing 2,243 votes.

Three National Vice Chairpersons were also elected from a field of 13 candidates.

Kojo Fosu was elected First Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye Second Vice Chairman, and Nana Akomea Third Vice Chairman.

Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was elected National Communications Director unopposed.

In the special wing elections, Abanga Yakubu Fuseni emerged as National Youth Organiser, while Hawa Koomson was elected National Women’s Organiser.

Mohammed Ali Suraj won the National Nasara Organiser position after polling 372 votes.

He defeated Salim Mansuru Bamba, who secured 311 votes, and Awal Mohammed, who obtained 106 votes.

The elections have produced a new national executive team expected to take charge of the NPP’s administration, organisation and political activities following the delegates conference.

Mr Boadu’s election also marks his return to the party’s national leadership, having previously served as General Secretary. His emergence as National Chairman comes after Mr Kodua defeated him in the contest for General Secretary at the NPP’s 2022 National Delegates Conference.
