James Gunu, Jinapor Discuss Energy Support For Volta’s Industrialisation Drive

Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has held discussions with the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, on the need for reliable and sustainable electricity supply to support industrialisation and the implementation of the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy in the region.

The engagement took place in Ho when Dr Jinapor led a delegation of heads of agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition to pay a courtesy call on the regional minister.

The delegation was in the Volta Region for a performance review retreat aimed at assessing the sector’s activities and setting priorities for improved service delivery.

Mr Gunu said reliable power supply would be critical to advancing the region’s economic development agenda, particularly plans to establish a 1,500-acre industrial park at Adaklu.

He noted that collaboration between the regional administration and the energy sector would be essential to attracting industries, creating jobs and expanding economic opportunities for residents.

The proposed industrial park is expected to support the region’s industrialisation drive, making dependable and sustainable electricity a key requirement for prospective investors and businesses.

Mr Gunu subsequently led the delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbui Afede XIV.

During the visit, Dr Jinapor and his team presented cash and other items to the traditional ruler, including support for his Educational Fund.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the delegation to interact with traditional leadership and acknowledge the role of education and community development in the region’s progress.

Mr Gunu expressed appreciation to Dr Jinapor and the delegation for the engagement, describing collaboration between the regional administration and the energy sector as important to achieving the Volta Region’s development objectives.

He reaffirmed the need for continued cooperation to improve energy supply, attract investment and create sustainable economic opportunities for the people of the region.
