GIPA Identifies Investment Opportunities At Tampe Kukuo Shea Butter Centre
The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has identified investment opportunities in shea butter processing and sustainable agricultural production following a visit to the Yumzaa Shea Butter Processing Centre at Tampe Kukuo in the Northern Region.
The visit, led by GIPA Deputy Chief Executive Officer Abdul Razak Baba, forms part of the Northern Regional Investment Roadshow under the Investment Opportunities Mapping Project (IOMP).
The initiative seeks to identify promising businesses and investment prospects across the regions and connect them with potential investors to support business expansion and economic growth.
During the visit, the centre’s founder, Madam Zakaria Adam P. Laceera, outlined plans to expand production and diversify the business by converting shea processing by-products into charcoal briquettes and organic liquid fertiliser.
The proposed expansion is expected to create additional value from shea processing waste while promoting sustainable production practices and opening up new business opportunities.
However, Madam Laceera identified access to funding as a major challenge hindering the centre’s ability to implement its expansion plans.
The visit highlighted the investment potential of the shea industry, particularly in agricultural value addition, waste utilisation and the development of environmentally sustainable products.
Through the IOMP, GIPA is working to identify enterprises with growth potential and showcase investment opportunities that can attract private capital, stimulate local economic activity and create jobs.
The Northern Regional Investment Roadshow forms part of preparations towards the Invest Ghana Summit scheduled for November 2026, where investment opportunities from across the country are expected to be presented to local and international investors.
GIPA’s engagement with the Yumzaa Shea Butter Processing Centre underscores the importance of connecting local enterprises with the financing and strategic partnerships needed to scale up production and maximise the value of Ghana’s agricultural resources.
