YEA Says All 1,000 Northshore Garment Project Beneficiaries Have Secured Jobs
The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) says all 1,000 young people recruited under its Northshore Garment Project have secured employment, with plans to enrol another 1,000 beneficiaries under the initiative in 2027.
Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale announced this while speaking at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House today, Wednesday, October 21, 2026, as he presented the Agency’s performance from January 2025 to September 2026.
The project is a partnership between the YEA and Northshore Apparel Ghana Limited designed to train young people, particularly women, in industrial garment production to fill vacancies at the company.
According to the Agency’s figures as of September 30, 2026, it had achieved its annual target of 1,000 beneficiaries, representing 100 per cent performance.
Mr Basintale said the initiative demonstrated the value of linking skills training directly to employment opportunities identified by industry.
The approach is intended to ensure that beneficiaries acquire practical skills relevant to employers’ needs and have a clearer pathway into work.
“I am pleased to report that the project met its stated beneficiary target in full, illustrating the potential of focused partnerships between the Agency and employers,” he said.
The CEO added that the Agency was determined to expand the initiative next year by deploying another 1,000 beneficiaries, building on the employment outcomes recorded under the current project.
The Northshore Garment Project forms part of the YEA’s broader efforts to create employment opportunities for young Ghanaians through partnerships with private-sector organisations.
Mr Basintale said the Agency remained committed to developing interventions that translate skills development into meaningful and sustainable work.
