Unopposed Greets Ningo-Prampram NDC Elections
The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has described the outcome of the constituency’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) executive elections as a sign of unity, after 15 of the 16 positions went unopposed.
In a message to delegates ahead of the elections, Mr George expressed gratitude to party members for allowing most of the executive positions to be filled without a contest.
“Tomorrow [Today], 16 elected positions were up for contest. You let 15 Executives go unopposed. That is a record. That is a statement. That is unity of purpose,” he said.
The NDC is holding its constituency executive elections nationwide on October 24 and 25, 2026, as part of its internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
About 15,000 aspirants are expected to contest various positions across 276 constituencies, with the exercise aimed at renewing grassroots leadership and strengthening the party’s structures.
Mr George urged delegates and party members in Ningo-Prampram to avoid internal divisions and focus on the NDC’s broader political objectives.
“We will not spend our energy fighting each other. We will stand shoulder to shoulder. And in 2028, we will deliver our biggest victory yet,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to represent the constituency in Parliament, assuring constituents that he did not take the responsibility lightly.
“I am blessed to represent you. I am honoured to serve you. I do not take this responsibility lightly,” he stated.
Describing the elections as an opportunity for party members to come together, Mr George said the exercise should be viewed as a family gathering rather than a divisive contest.
“Tomorrow is not a contest. It is a family gathering. We are one: in mind, in spirit, in purpose,” he said.
He added that Ningo-Prampram continued to distinguish itself within the party, declaring: “Once again, Ningo-Prampram stands out as a light set on a hill.”
The constituency elections form part of the NDC’s wider programme to elect executives at the constituency, regional and national levels ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The party is scheduled to hold its regional executive elections on November 14 and 15, 2026, before concluding the national executive elections at its National Congress on December 19.
The constituency-level process is expected to shape the party’s grassroots organisation and preparations for the next general election, with party leaders calling for unity and cooperation throughout the internal electoral exercise.
