Upper East Stakeholders Call For Improved Access To Specialised Healthcare
Healthcare stakeholders in the Upper East Region have called for increased investment in specialised healthcare services to improve access to advanced medical care and address critical gaps in the region’s health infrastructure.
The call was made during a regional stakeholder engagement in Bolgatanga organised by the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, which brought together health professionals, traditional authorities, government officials and other stakeholders to discuss the future of specialised healthcare delivery in the region.
During the engagement, healthcare leaders highlighted several pressing needs, including the establishment of an oncology unit, a modern dialysis centre, improved critical care facilities and increased investment in specialist training.
The stakeholders emphasised the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and developing specialist capacity to improve treatment outcomes for patients in the region.
Traditional authorities, government officials and health professionals welcomed the work of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund and expressed their readiness to support its mandate.
The engagement also provided an opportunity to acknowledge medical equipment support previously extended to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.
Discussions further explored how stronger partnerships between the Trust Fund, government institutions, healthcare providers and other stakeholders could help address the region’s specialised healthcare challenges.
The engagement was described as productive, with participants sharing concerns about healthcare needs and expressing a collective commitment to improving access to quality medical services.
The discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration, sustained investment in medical infrastructure and specialist training to ensure that residents of the Upper East Region can access the specialised care they need.
