Roads Ministry Rejects Viral Video Allegedly Showing Road Being Removed By Hand
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has rejected a viral social media video purportedly showing a road being removed by hand, describing its association with Ghanaian road construction projects as misleading.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, the government agency said its checks indicated that the road featured in the footage was located in Liberia, not Ghana.
The Ministry maintained that attempts to link the video to road projects constructed under its supervision in Ghana misrepresented the facts and could create a false impression about the quality of the country’s road infrastructure.
“The Ministry categorically rejects this misrepresentation,” the statement said.
The statement, signed by Kojo Danquah, Spokesperson to the Minister for Roads and Highways, said the Ministry would not allow misleading content to distort public understanding of its work or undermine confidence in ongoing road infrastructure projects.
It added that the Minister and the Ministry remained committed to ensuring that roads constructed across the country met the required standards.
According to the Ministry, the commitment was reflected in the Minister’s ongoing inspection tours of road projects nationwide.
The Ministry urged the public, media organisations and social media users to verify information before publishing or sharing it online.
It warned that circulating footage without the correct context could mislead unsuspecting citizens and undermine informed public discussion about road construction and infrastructure development.
The statement also called on Ghanaians to disregard what it described as a misleading narrative and rely on verified information from credible sources.
The Ministry reiterated that accurate information was essential to public understanding of road infrastructure projects and urged the public to ensure that viral content was properly verified before drawing conclusions about projects in Ghana.
