Ato Forson Assures Ghanaians Of Responsible Public Spending
Minister for Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has assured Ghanaians that the government is directing public funds towards priority areas while avoiding waste and ensuring that public resources are used for the benefit of citizens.
He said the government’s approach to public spending marked a departure from the recurring accumulation of arrears, with a renewed focus on meeting financial obligations on time.
He maintained that the timely releases to statutory funds means respect for the laws that set them up.
Dr Forson stressed that timely releases to statutory funds were essential to fulfilling the government’s obligations, respecting the law and breaking the cycle of arrears.
He noted that responsible management of public finances required every cedi to be spent in ways that served the needs and interests of the people.
“Every cedi must serve the people,” he emphasised.
According to the Finance Minister, this decision underscores the government’s stated commitment to improving fiscal discipline, ensuring timely payments to statutory funds and strengthening accountability in the use of public resources.
