GIFEC Engages Oti Stakeholders Ahead Of Girls In ICT Training Programme

The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has intensified stakeholder engagement in the Oti Region ahead of the upcoming Girls in ICT training programme, as part of efforts to promote digital inclusion and empower young girls through technology.

The regional inception meeting, held on October 29, 2026, at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council, brought together key stakeholders to discuss preparations for the programme and strengthen collaboration towards its successful implementation.

The Oti Regional Minister was represented at the meeting by Prince Katie Oyekunle, Assistant Director in Charge of Administration at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council.

In his remarks, Mr Oyekunle highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration in promoting digital literacy and creating opportunities for girls to participate in the digital economy.

Leading the GIFEC delegation, the Director of Operations, Alhaji Yahaya Zakaria Osman, engaged participants on the operational arrangements and coordination required to ensure the effective delivery of the training programme.

The Girls in ICT initiative, implemented under the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, seeks to equip girls with relevant digital skills, stimulate their interest in technology and prepare them to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the digital space.

GIFEC plays a key supporting role in the initiative, which forms part of broader efforts to bridge the digital divide and expand access to technology-related opportunities.

The inception meeting was intended to strengthen regional coordination, secure stakeholder support and establish the necessary arrangements for the programme’s implementation.

Through initiatives such as Girls in ICT, GIFEC continues to advance its digital inclusion agenda, with a focus on nurturing a new generation of female technology leaders and encouraging greater participation by girls in the digital economy.
