BoG Governor Launches Maiden ‘Ghana In Numbers 2025’ Publication

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has called for greater use of reliable official statistics in policymaking, business decisions and national development.

He made the call on Thursday, October 29, 2026, when he joined key stakeholders in Accra for the launch of the maiden edition of Ghana in Numbers 2025, an initiative by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) to make official statistics more accessible.

Dr Asiama emphasised the importance of dependable data in guiding monetary policy, strengthening financial sector regulation and supporting Ghana’s broader development agenda.

He said the publication should serve as an important resource for understanding the country’s circumstances, assessing its progress and informing decisions about its future.

“Let us see Ghana in Numbers not merely as a statistical publication, but as a national resource for understanding our circumstances, evaluating our progress, and making better decisions about our collective future,” Dr Asiama said.

The initiative is aimed at improving access to official statistical information to support evidence-based decisions across government, the private sector and other areas of national life.

The launch of Ghana in Numbers 2025 marks an effort by the Ghana Statistical Service to make key national statistics more accessible and encourage their use in planning, policymaking and development.
