Dr Forson To Present 2027 Budget Of Jobs On November 12

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has indicated that the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy under President John Mahama will outline measures to translate Ghana’s economic recovery into jobs, improved incomes and opportunities for local businesses.

In a post on X ahead of the budget presentation to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, Dr Forson said the sacrifices made by Ghanaians to restore economic stability must now deliver tangible benefits, particularly for young people, farmers and businesses.

“Ghanaians made sacrifices to get our economy back on its feet. Now, that recovery must mean decent jobs for our young people, better incomes for our farmers and room for Ghanaian businesses to grow and hire,” he wrote.

He added that the upcoming budget would explain how the government intended to convert the gains made in the economy into employment and broader prosperity.

“Next week, I will show how the New Economy will turn the gains we have made together into jobs and prosperity for all,” he stated.

A major component of the government's economic agenda is the proposed US$10 billion New Economy programme, a four-year investment plan covering the period from 2027 to 2030.

The programme is intended to expand domestic production, increase the local processing of raw materials and strengthen the ability of Ghanaian businesses to compete in both domestic and international markets.

The November 12 budget presentation is expected to provide further details on the programme, including the investments and policy measures the government plans to prioritise to boost production, create jobs and support business expansion.

The budget will be presented following the completion of the final review of Ghana’s IMF-supported programme in July 2026.

The government has increasingly signalled a shift in focus from economic stabilisation towards productivity, investment and job creation.

Dr Forson’s comments suggest that employment, improved agricultural incomes and private-sector expansion will be central to the next phase of the government's economic agenda.
